Facebook Pixel Setup (V3)

Step 1 – Facebook Pixel Setup

1a – Pixel Information

Log into your Facebook Business account, and navigate to the events manager
 
Select the relevant Facebook Pixel on the left hand side. and go to the tab labelled ‘Settings‘. 
Copy your ‘Pixel ID‘, and note it down.
Scroll down until you see ‘Conversions API’. and click ‘Generate Access Token‘. Note this down too.
 

1b – Events Setup

BookNow Software sends the following events to Facebook:
  • ViewContent – This is fired when the customer selects a date and time, and gets to the ‘Add to Cart’ stage.
  • AddToCart – This is fired when the customer adds an item to their cart.
  • InitiateCheckout – This is fired when the customer reaches the payment stage.
  • AddPaymentInfo – This is fired when the customer has added their payment info, and hits ‘Checkout’ in the booking page.
  • Purchase – This is fired once the payment has been successfully taken and the booking is created.
All of the events above are part of Facebook’s ‘Standard Events’ (https://developers.facebook.com/docs/facebook-pixel/reference#standard-events).
 
As part of Facebook’s aggregated event measurement, you need to configure your pixel to accept the events BookNow will send. Follow the link below and select the relevant pixel on the left hand side:
Next, go to ‘Aggregated event measurement’ and hit ‘Configure Web Events’. You should have your domain listed below. If you can’t see your domain, follow the sub-guide below:
Click on your website domain, and hit ‘Manage Events’. 
Click ‘Add Event’ in the top right, and fill the fields according to the image below:
 
Now hit submit at the bottom. 

Step 2 – BookNow Setup

2a – Backend Setup

Log in to your Salesforce environment. Head to the cog in the top right corner, then click ‘Setup‘. 
On the left hand side, you should see ‘Quick Find‘. Search for ‘CSP Trusted Sites‘ and click on the returned item. 
Click ‘New Trusted Site‘, and enter the following information:

Now click ‘Save & New‘ and enter the following information in this one:

Hit ‘Save‘.

2b – Site Setup

Next, you will need to navigate to your site record, and look for the ‘Facebook Pixel Code‘ field. If you don’t see this field, follow the guide on changing page layouts in related articles.
 
In the field, first enter the ‘Pixel ID‘ we noted in step 1. Now, enter a semi colon followed by the access token we copied in step 1. Lastly, add another semi colon followed by your verified domain (website, not booking system)
You should end up with a field that looks like this:
 
Once you have saved, you should start seeing page tracking in Pixel.
